The Refuge
General Baptist Church

Welcome to Welton

Our school began with a strong sense of Biblical Ministry. Since our founding, it's been our vision and mission to educate Christians -- the hope of the world. Welton was founded with the idea that the Bible (The Word of God) can and should be applied in every aspect of our lives, no matter what our professional callings might be.

Welton is a school of biblical ministry with a distinctively different approach to Christian education. Everything we do -- in the classroom, in the work place, or around the dinner table -- encourages students to reflect on what it means to be called to lives of service.

Thanks to the generous support and prayers of our friends at Cross Style International Ministries, The General Association of General Baptist and The Refuge General Baptist Church, Welton School of Ministry is preparing men and women, no matter what age, to become servant leaders in order to change lives and shape culture through Jesus Christ.

Welton’s mission is to prepare men and women as Christian servant-leaders, whatever their profession or academic level. Through classes and activities, worship services and Bible studies, lasting friendships and exceptional staff mentors, your experiences at Welton will prepare you to change lives and shape culture through the ministry God calls you to pursue.

Day-To-Day

A typical day at Welton School of Ministry starts at the church at 8am. From 8-9am, you will be in prayer, devotion, and worship. The rest of the morning will be spent in class room study. After lunch you will have the opportunity to be involved in hands-on ministry; either working in the office, planning new dramas, preaching or working within the local community. This year will also include a 1-week overseas mission trip, a 1-week home missions trip, a 2-week out of house internship, and many other ministry and training opportunities. The days are long and full, but the rewards of seeing God work are many.

Cross Style International Ministries

The cross was not merely an event one day in the life of Jesus; it was and is His continual style. This style was manifested in His constant submission to the will of the Father. Jesus did not operate on His own and out of His own resource, but lived in the flow of what the Father would do through Him.

It is still His style, the "cross style," which He now desires to live through anyone who receives Him as Savior and Lord. As Jesus lived in this world , so we live in constant submission to His plan for us, not operating out of our own resources, but in the constant flow of what He would do through us.

Cross Style International Ministries (CSIM) was birthed out of this message, and exists for the purpose of its proclamation and demonstration. To see this purpose fulfilled, CSIM endorses and facilitates a group of itinerant evangelists who are entrusted to preach and live the "cross style."

This site is designed to provide you opportunity to become acquainted with this group of evangelists. For more information: http://www.cstrainingcenter.com/

Christology: Part 1
Led by Dr. Stephen Manley, this course will explore the opening chapters of Matthew to understand the revelation of the Person of Christ, who is central in Christianity. Knowing who He is as revealed in the Word of God is essential to a growing relationship with Him. Attention will also be given to the concept of Jesus as the “prototype,” and the ramifications for the message of the gospel and our living experience. Students will be encouraged to saturate in the Word in their own lives so that Christ may be more than a theology, but the living Person at work in their lives

FACILITATORS

Stephen Manley

Evangelist and Teacher

Dr. Stephen Manley has found through the saturation of the Word the message of the cross. It is beyond an event; it is a style. Thus, the cross is not a piece of wood or an emblem, but it is the heart of the person of Christ. Cross style is the Christ style. He must be central. As an international evangelist, he has taken this message to the world. Expositional preaching is cross cultural and meets the need on every level.

After pastoring for seven years, evangelism became his active call in 1968. He believes God has called him to evangelism training as well as teaching and preaching of the Word. He is committed to making Jesus and His cross known to a needy world.

John Juneman

Director, Cross Style Training Center

Dr. John Juneman was first introduced to the Cross Style as a Summer Evangelist Intern with Stephen Manley in 1987. His saturation in the Word has transformed his life and been the source of all ministry. Following college and seminary, he traveled in itinerant evangelism for seven years followed by eight years of pastoral ministry. He moved his family to Lebanon, TN in June 2007 to launch and become the full-time director of the Cross Style Training Center. John and Trina have two children: Chaili, age 12 and Carey, age 6. Jeremiah has found, through saturation of the Word, the message of the Cross! It is beyond an event; it is a style.
